Light Rescue – emergency search and rescue procedures
Course length This is a 3 day fully interactive training course with a need for a basic level of physical strength and fitness. Course aim To give staff the knowledge, ability to search for, and rescue, others in the immediate aftermath of a natural disaster until such point as more qualified rescue resources arrive on the scene. Who is it for? For all staff working in natural disasters zones requiring an understanding of emergency search and rescue procedures.	Navigating difficult and unknown terrain is one of the emergency procedures to be learnt on this course
Course Content This course will cover the following topics:
Aims and organisation of light rescue Duties and responsibilities of the tram leader Personal, manpack and other rescue equipment Searching for casualties The 5 stages of rescue Casualty handling Recovery of the dead	Recovery of valuables Building construction Principles of levering and jacking Strutting and shoring Repair to utilities Knots and lashings
